Yesterday was my niece's 8th birthday! I started the day out with my three egg bacon and cheese omelet, then took a travel cup of Nutter Butter Peanut Butter Bites with me for the road.
My first stop was the St Clair Mall to get the pair of sparkly Vans shoes from Journey's Kids. That would be my first gift to Larisa, my niece. It took a lot out of me to be a grown man, by himself, looking very intently at a pair of purple and pink glittery Vans girl shoes, but what's an uncle that doesn't spoil his nieces?
I met up with my dad and sister for some Fazoli's once I got to Mt Vernon, and enjoyed a nice bowl-plate (that's the only way I know how to describe this dish they used) of Three Cheese Ravioli. My only problem was sitting through watching my loved ones eat slices of cheesecake in front of me. That's like torture to a guy who's favorite desert is cheesecake!
I had been wanting to see the Lorax for quite some time; you might even say I was starting to rhyme when the subject came up, and the thought was sublime. It was my favorite Dr Seuss book when I was a child; i always thought the inventions were wild. The colors and story had me on a hook, and that's why the Lorax was my favorite book.
Needless to say, treating Larisa to a movie for her birthday and inviting her sister to go too was the perfect opportunity to see The Lorax! We chose 3D because its so cool. It was apparently Larisa's first 3D movie. My review is simple: AWESOME!!! GO SEE THE LORAX! You're mind will thank you! We all shared a bag of popcorn.
After the movie, we went back to my sister's house and ate some Chicken Pot Pie mom brought over from her work. I guess I can finally say I am a fan of Chicken Pot Pie; it's been a long time comin'. I am thankful for homemade style food!
Larisa loved the shoes and the movie. Lauren got new glasses. Everybody ended the day completely satisfied. Check and mate, like chess!
