Poor Boy

How is it only day 3? I woke up in the morning feeling some IHOP for breakfast and Chik-Fil-A for lunch. Maddy, my "other sister", taunted me the whole morning with descriptions of Burger King, and my pastor's invitation to Taco Bell yesterday was still ringing in my ear! Thankfully, God provides when you stand strong on your commitment to Him!

For breakfast, I remembered I left my Hostess Donettes in the car, and after a cold night they were perfectly coated in a crisp chocolate. I ate the rest of the bag!

Lunch ended up being an adventure. I went to the local Schnuck's and picked up some eggs, honey cornbread mix, Ore-ida Waffle Fries, a pack of cookie ice cream sandwiches, and a foot long Poor Boy Sub, freshly made in the deli with bologna, salami, american and swiss cheeses. Maddy did most of the oven work, and I helped stir stuff together and rip the sub in two halves.

I had the privilege of dinner at the Thomas's house tonight! Howard Thomas III, aka "Squeaky", is a certified chef, and made up some smoked ribs, spaghetti, and brown beans in celebration of his son, who also carries the name, "Howard", turning 16! I feel like I should note: I am a major Cardinals baseball fan, and Howard IV is a diehard (it even hurts me to write this) Cubs fan. (poor kid doesn't know what a win looks like) because I care about the teens in my youth ministry, I fought back the tears as I bought him a Cubs license plate bracket, because I know he will soon be looking for a car to put it on!

Tonight I also discovered that I am slightly better at Call of Duty than I am at Wii Mario Cart, and the Thomases play a mean game of Spades.
